Minimising Wastage on the Farm

The majority of our WA 38 cv. trees which produce Cosmic Crisp^® brand apples are grown under hail netting. The hail netting minimises wastage by protecting the apples in a variety of ways, such as reducing sunburn, storm, and bird damage. It also reduces evaporation so we’re able to use less water to grow the trees.

Any fruit that does get damaged on the farm is used to make our own natural compost which we put back into the earth to fertilise the apple trees.

Minimising Wastage in the Supply Chain

Any surplus Cosmic Crisp^® apples resulting from the supply chain are donated to Foodbank, the largest hunger relief charity in Australia.

Foodbank acts as the pantry to the charity sector by linking surplus groceries and food to people in need. Like Foodbank, we believe that everyone should have access to good food no matter their situation so we’re happy that any surplus Cosmic Crisp® apples can be put to good use!

Minimising Food Miles

We’ve strategically partnered with growers and retail partners in key apple growing regions so that as much as possible we can sell Cosmic Crisp^® apples in the same state in which they were grown. Read more about our Growers and Orchards.
